The current Bulgarian legislation provides 15 calendar days of paid leave for the father after the baby and mother leave the hospital. That’s all. And the payment depends on when the father provides the documents to the company’s accounting. They on the other hand need to provide these documents to the state. As a result fathers often receive half a salary in the month the child is born.
For a long time USA has been considered as a non-social country where people cannot really rely on the state to help them in tough situations. Some US companies have decided to turn this trend in an opposite direction by offering 3 months of paid leave for the fathers. Sounds nice, right?
