Aim for extraordinary

To see the potential that the future holds, and articulate an extraordinary vision for that future, leaders must first learn to enhance their own capacity to generate new thinking and insights. Insights are ideas or solutions that arise from the non-conscious, creating new connections between existing knowledge in the brain and resulting in an “A-ha!” moment. Research on the neuroscience of insights suggests that our most creative solutions often derive from moments of insight, rather than logical analysis. There are four conditions that can facilitate insight: 1.A quiet mind, one that is not too focused or preoccupied by other thoughts 2.Being internally-focused, rather than distracted by people or events in our surroundings 3.Having one’s brain in a toward state, rather than in a state of threat or negativity 4.Not thinking directly about the problem you are trying to solve
